When I was 10 we moved house on 18 December.

It was the last day of school that year and so my parents had managed to get everything sorted while me/sister were at school.

When we came home we just got in the car and were whisked away to the new house, which was full of boxes.
  • Don't panic - I have moved house twice around 19th December for some weird reason. As long as you are organised it is no different from any other time of year!

I moved house on 23rd December. Spookily, so did my brother.

We are moving on friday (30th nov) and my house is also in a RIGHT STATE. I am now half way through a bottle of wine to try to blot out the mental list of how much there still is to do. We have two school age kids and a baby, and none of our family "are free that day" to help. EEEK!

AND DH has promised the kids a christmas tree will be in place on the saturday.......

Seriously though, I think moving is awful whatever time of the year you do it, think on the brightside, you will have a few days of from work to get stuff done, and there is something nice about being in a new place in time for xmas.
    Hope it goes ok.

I move on Friday, I have a school age child, a toddler and a baby. My hubby has the long weekend off to help decorate etc.

It may be mad, but we found our ideal home, so why hang about? The way I see it, at least the mad rush is only for a few weeks...I've got all of 2008 to relax.:D

And a tip for you: Make sure the tea/coffee/kettle are in the first box that gets unpacked!;) :D

    Good luck Gary
Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. :cheesy:
  • We moved on 21 Dec 2 years ago. Our new neighbours came over with pre-Christmas drinks, it was fun.

Good luck! :) Hope all goes smoothly. As suggested above, make sure you know where the kettle, tea and coffee (or perhaps brandy ;) ) are when you get to the new place.
  • I once moved house, single handedly as a single parent of a child just six weeks old on 24th december. My landlady sold the house from underneath me whilst pregnant, despite the fact I begged her to wait until I returned to work and I would buy it. It was freezing cold and I moved most things on my own, on foot, whilst the old lady next door looked after my baby.

I never forgave the landlady for completing on Christmas eve, If I ever saw her now I would rub her face in with my 40k car and big five bedroomed house,

But, Christmases come and go and where there's a good one there's a bad one. Home is where your heart is, so if you love your new place its the right place to be at christmas.
