Why did you wait for 25 hours, EU261/2004 is quite clear that they should have re-routed you with another airline if necessary. If they couldn't or wouldn't you could have re-routed yourselves and claimed the difference in the cost. Did you have travel insurance? Just think if this had been pre-2004 you would not have gotten anything. Is the compensation correct €250 for a flight less than 1500km and €400 for a flight between 1500km and 3500km

What they have offered is correct on distance. They haven’t specified if infant will be included.
As for why did we wait - I wasn’t aware there was an option. It was 10pm by the time we disembarked and we didn’t find out until midnight flight wouldn’t be until 6pm the following day. They didn’t explain why - we just received emails, no reps at all.

If you paid anything what so ever for the children, that could even be just a booking fee of £20 or so they will be due compensation. Any compensation given to the children is THEIR'S. Compensation is issued to the traveler, not the person who paid for the flights. Did they also pay for your breakfast and lunch and did you have an evening meal before your flight if so they should have paid for all of this food. If they didn't and you have receipts you can claim it all back. The rules are quite clear they should have re-routed you, before flying again lookup "Vaubans Guide" on google and all the information is there.
