PCN Fine Help!

Hey Everyone,

Hoping you can help me.

Went out shopping with the wife today and parked in the underground parking. Wife called Ringo and made the payment for a couple of hours.

On our return we notice we had a fine and were very confused. It was an PCN for not displaying a permit (Contravention code 83). Very annoyed I wanted to call them to say we had paid however there is no number to speak to anyone.

When we got home the wife noticed that in the effort to add her new bank card details for the payment she never listened to the code for the parking address which is at the top of the road where we had parked a few weeks ago. However, we still made payment which was accepted by Ringo and it's the same council who gave us this fine and it's the same cost for both locations.

Would like to know what your thoughts are here as I have 14 days from today to pay the lower fee but surely they would have noticed the car can't be parked in two locations at the same time. Need help please on what to do here as I feel its unfair that we every intention of paying and did pay but used the parking code they had saved on her phone from the last time.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Maurice

What should I do if I have paid to park at the wrong location?

All RingGo locations have a unique location code, normally either a four or five digit number, clearly displayed on local signage to identify the location that you are parked. It is extremely important that you take note of the location code as without this information, RingGo parking service is unable to park you!

Should you have entered the location code incorrectly and proceeded to make payment, you would need to pay again for the correct location* and apply for a refund with the parking operator for the incorrect location. All sessions are non-transferable between locations.

It is also worth noting that when you are an existing customer having parked using our service previously, the RingGo service will always offer you your last parked vehicle and location as the first option. You should always ensure that when using our automated telephone service you listen carefully and react to the prompts accordingly.

Whenever you pay with the RingGo parking service, we simply bank all monies to the parking operator and any application for a refund must be made directly to them. Only the parking operator will be able to authorise a partial or full refund of any sort. In order to request a refund, you should contact the parking operator either by phone or in writing.

*To avoid potentially being issued with a parking fine, we would urge you to make payment for the correct location as soon as possible. The RingGo service will always read the location description to you after entering the code via our automated telephone service or display the location on-screen with online/app bookings.

NEWBIES - HOW TO UPLOAD LINKS TO PHOTOS/SCANS TO MSE

To upload a photo/scan link, you first need to host it on a free photo hosting site (like Dropbox, Imurg or Tinypic), copy the URL, paste it here, but change the http to hxxp and we'll do the conversion. Newbies can't directly upload links to photos/scans until they've a few posts under their belt.

Oh ... and using a phone to browse the site can cause problems.. so please try a laptop/PC

If this is a council ticket, you’re not posting on the most appropriate forum.

As we major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there (but please note that a hotmail address won't work - try using a throwaway gmail account instead if you do have trouble registering) and post a new thread; here's your link:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?act=SF&s=&f=30

Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate) as they need to see all the small print.

PePiPoo has an excellent success record in dealing with council tickets.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
