    My local computer place charges £5 per tape so 3 tapes would be £15.

    Granted, that's 50% more than £10 but I couldn't be bothered to sit there watching the tape go round and round for that price.

    £5 per tape is a good price. That is not the kind of price that I would expect. Of course, you would need to trust them with your media.

    Have a look for a USB video grabber. You can play the DVD’s camera into it using the yellow and white phone cables. The device will then load them as digital files on your PC.
