PCN Dilemma - quick to the internets!!!

I thought it was all under control. Please may you give constructive advice if you can.
Received a £130 PCN from Croydon council for a contravention on the 1st July (53J - Failing to comply with a restriction on vehicles entering a pedestrian zone (Camera Enforcement))
I immediately lodged an appeal on humanity grounds (I was driving home from the hospital after a long day of the birth of my first child, 10pm, following satnav, looked like a normal road with no pedestrians - no I did not think to read any signage if there was any)
Received confirmation of appeal which means the pcn is frozen until a decision. I fully understand if the appeal doesn't go in my favour then I will pay the original charge.
Great I think, I'll await a decision.
It's a company perk vehicle which is changed annually. A few weeks later the company forwarded me a letter from the council which said that as no communication received the fine has now increased. What?
Fast forward
I emailed the council what this is about as it's under appeal - no response, more letters forwarded to me weeks later

Last week a letter was forwarded to me from the company that it has now gone to the courts! All letters have been addressed to the company.
I then spent 5 days phoning the council, trying to get in touch with someone who could investigate.
Finally got through to the right person who said as it's a company vehicle and I'm just the driver that they don't accept communication from the driver and it's the registered keeper (the company) who have to communicate to the council (or file to the courts transference of liability).
This was news to me as I thought, as I was in the wrong (driving) I should deal with this and not involve the company. I thought I was doing everything right but now it appears that my appeal may be nulled as I'm not the registered keeper.
I've emailed the company with the above and await their response - what also ticks me off is when the company forwarded me the council letters they just said "what is going on with this, has it been paid yet". Indicating I should be dealing with it.
I sense the company are going to just say it's my problem and I'm now stuck with an increased fine.
This has caused so much unnecessary stress, I really feel like going on Judge Rinder or something and stating my case.
Anyone been in this position and can provide guidance please?

As we major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there (but please note that a hotmail address won't work - try using a throwaway gmail account instead if you do have trouble registering) and post a new thread; here's your link:
http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?act=SF&s=&f=30
Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate) as they need to see all the small print.
PePiPoo has an excellent success record in dealing with council tickets. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
