Virgin Mobile customers furious over pay-as-you-go shake-up - MSE News

There are other providers with cheap low use tariffs, so change to them. Virgin are under no obligation to keep unprofitable tariffs going. Have you worked out what it will cost you, lets say you were topping up £10 every six months to keep the sim going, if it's an emergency how often do you use it - it might actually not cost you more if you were making a chargeable call every 6 months and it was only otherwise used in an emergency. It is NOT misleading. . it affects me!
I'm 60+ use £20 credit tops a year in an emergency and am now shafted.
I had read this as a total of £2 a day not the £6 mentioned. PAYG on Virgin is going so get ready to receive the text/email.
I now have the hassle of changing provider. I hate them so much.
They will, they will also allow you to leave and get a refund on unused credit. Other tariffs include JAM bundle at £5pm for 250min/250text/250MB data but that's £60 per year.Won't they let you switch tariffs?0 -
I have been with Virgin a long time as it has until now been a bargain price. But will now be leaving. However I have only in September topped up my PAYG account with a significant amount. The (rubbish) website says I cannot get a refund if I switch - that surely must be wrong?
If it isn't, then I will be complaining long and loud to everyone I can think of. No mention of the JAM option when I rang them.
Can't help thinking that they should be required to give longer notice than 4-5 weeks.:mad:0 -
Virgin payg has never been a bargain price, especially with 02 and three!0

yes it is normal for PAYG to loose credit.
so, use some of it up, or give it to a charity by txting charity numbers.
You need to keep a bit of credit though, to port your number over.
Yes asda is a good alternative as it uses the same network coverage and has reasonable rates0 -
Its already been explained that affected customers can move and get credit, and Asda is not as cheap as 02classic or 3 payg.0
-
But if the user is happy with the reception they get with virgin then Asda will be very similar if not the same.
You can’t say that about o2 or 3
And also if the users phone is locked (or locked unknown to them)
There is a good chance Asda will work.
That it why it is a safer option to recommend0 -
I’ve recently been auto ‘upgraded’ due to this 'shake-up' from an old virginmedia payg which included free VoiceMail.
The new one is ‘Daily Bonus Plan’ with chargeable VM (26p a time). While I don’t use data and my only outgoing call usage is VM, this has still made quite a difference. Is there any other payg product that includes free VM? Thanks for any thoughts..0 -
If you want free voicemail and free calls within White network on PAYG piggingbacking on EE, consider WhiteMobile https://whitemobile.com
Great for family members who don't using very much credit1
