Switching

Options
Hi All, I am currently with BT and I am paying £95 a month for phone & internet.
I want to switch to a cheaper deal but I am nervous as the speed we have is good and (fingers crossed) I have had minimal downtime and the service has been good.
And I would want to keep my BT e-mail address.
I am of certain age :) so don't tend to switch, but this seems a lot to me.
Any recommendations?
How easy is it to switch?

Yeah this is what happens when you use a provider email address and want to consider moving on, you run the risk of losing it. Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook.com are alternatives that work on any provider.

Easiest solution in this case is check the market, check what other deals are available and see what BT will do for you as a retention deal.

As to how easy it is to switch - find another provider, fill in an online form, and 17 days later or so swap your router out (the box that gives you the internet). That's all there is to it.

Try this tool to see what you could be paying and then give BT a call and play hardball.

You are paying a lot for the service .
What contract / deal are you on .

I pay less than £40 pm for 80/20 BB + phone line + anytime calls + BT TV + BT Sport UHD .

Are you sure that £95 is per month and not per quarter as it seems ridiculously high, and TBH it is probably around 3 times higher than you would expect a reasonable deal to be.

Definitely negotiate - I pay £10 per month for weekend and evening calls (although we never use the phone) and Superfast Fibre Essential. We downgraded from Superfast Fibre as BT couldn't provide the advertised speeds. The annual line rental on top. We are not interested in any of the TV packages.

Like you, we were keen to keep out bt email addresses, but have weaned ourselves off and use gmail for most things, just keeping an eye on the bt mail to see what needs changing over.

By the time our contract comes up for renewal we should feel able to switch away with no problems.

For what exactly are you paying ??
Even failing to keep on top of an account and all the price increases still should not be that figure .

Does that include all your phone calls or are you unlimited call plan?
