Landlord wanting his house back, various problems- advice needed please

We have a local landlord who would give Rachman a run for his money. When his son ran for election he went round letting himself into tenant's houses, put up election posters in the window and told them he'd evict if they took them down. He tends not to do repairs. He rents to people at the bottom of the ladder who either don't know their rights or who can't risk taking the chance because finding somewhere else (that is cheap and which he doesn't own) is too difficult.
Council won't act despite many concerns being raised. It annoys me immensely that he gets away with it, but no one is willing to enforce. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Tories.
Before he had to stand down due to a prison sentence for a hit and run.
Sounds like an eastenders story line, but it is sadly real life.
The latest instalment of the saga was doing a new build too close to his existing properties and causing their back walls to collapse. Cue road closure and mass evacuation while surveyors are called in. The council were going to use that as a reason to look at inspecting other properties. Still waiting.....All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Back again with another query re this saga.
My friends are sitting tight now and just waiting for the next development from the landlord. But today whilst having a discussion with them and another of our mutual friends another point was raised.
As I said at the start of the thread they have never had any written contract during the period they have been renting. Now he is trying to get them out he is sending all the text messages to the husband and the letter which came through the post was addressed just to the husband. The rent is paid direct from the husbands bank account.
But- there are 3 of them living in the property, The husband, the wife and their adult daughter (aged 31).
It probably makes little difference but our mutual friend suggested that he needs to be serving notice on each of them individually rather than just the husband.
Is that correct or is it just muddying the waters?0 -
67 postsand I've lost the plot a bit, but.....
As he's not served a S21 it makes no difference!0
