Airline sales

We are wanting to travel LHR - JNB in July 2020. Is it likely that this route would be on the post Christmas sales of BA or Virgin ? Does the 60 day rule generally apply to this route and I could wait and see if January sales bring cheaper prices ?

The sales are there to sell flights that might otherwise be harder than usual to sell. If you mean by July, the school holidays then flights to
Jo'Berg are usually packed and there is no reason for BA to discount. That is not to say they won't appear in the sale as demand has been very mixed in 2019 and with Brexit causing people to hold back from booking at the moment, it is simply an unknown answer. Certainly do not wait until 60 days before departure, fares are likely to be much higher for direct flights

Ethiopian Airlines are generally very good value on this route.
