Frugal, eco but fun party bag ideas

  • In my party days, 'party bags' just contained a piece of the birthday cake. There is too much 'entitlement' these days. You're throwing a fun party, you're feeding the kids, it's not their birthday so a piece of cake is sufficient as far as I'm concerned. Whoever started the whole party bag thing needs shooting! And don't get me started on the whole wedding favours thing too, or baby shower favours. You're invited to a birthday/wedding/baby shower to help celebrate, not for what you're going to get given.
  • I don't think it's about entitlement. I think someone started this thing and now kids are kind of used to it, sort of a "thank you for coming to my party" thing. It doesn't have to be a big thing, as you said a thank you card on a recycled piece of paper and a slice of cake is a perfectly well put together party bag. I never give out toys or plastic things, I always try and make some nice things for them to bring home so it adds to the joy of the day, but that's personal. We should all do what we feel we can afford to/have time to. A friend usually just bakes some extra biscuits or muffins and then give them out at the end of the day!
