Try and lift the carpet for a look underneath, you may have a water leakage problem. These are usually only covered for the first year, so check it quick.
My [STRIKE]Renault[/STRIKE] Nissan has waterproof backed carpets, and beneath them there is about an inch of polysyrene. Any water that gets under the carpet, because it runs in where the boys & girls at Sunderland couldn't be bothered sealing the lights and bulkheads properly never evaporates.
Similarly, any spills don't get through the carpet from the top.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

You might be able to get under the carpet by removing the trim at the bottom of the door frame, if you can putting towels under there and swapping them regularly would help a lot. If possible leave the carpet lifted to allow the air to circulate.0

The backing of the carpet does appear to be waterproof & the water is definitely under it so that would make me think that there may be a leak other than the water I spilled
If I were to try to take the door trim off to get the carpet up how would I go about it?
Thank you for your reply0 -
My daughters 107 had this problem and peugeot replaced the door seals. Might be worth contactingthem to see if there has been a problem and a recall.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Check here for any possible recalls. https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-recall0

They are safety related recalls though. Not a manufacturer's voluntary recall.
I would suggest that a potential leak, other than one, e.g., causing the driver's underfoot carpet becoming wet and making it slippy or the risk of an electrical short circuit, is not a safety issue.:)0 -
Could be the plastic tubing feeding the rear window washer unit maybe? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Not the washer water which has a smell just clean, clear & no smell.0
