Calling card feature on Nokia Phones
Tip for anyone using calling card (or equivalent like 18866, Simply Fone etc) on Nokia mobiles... try this:
Put the access number in your phone list as follows:
<access number> <plus symbol>
So for 18866 it's
08081701701+
When I dial that number, it then prompts me for the number I want to dial, so I hit "search", and choose a number from my phone list. Should work on at least some Nokias.
Tested working on a 6230 and 3120. On a 6030 and 6230i, when I choose the number, only the last digit of the number shows up, so it only sends that digit rather the whole number. It appears to be a bug but I cannot find anywhere on the web with information regarding this "+" function.
I'm starting to think that it is a deliberate ploy by Nokia to cripple this feature, as they want to keep the networks happy. The networks obviously don't like losing revenue to calling card services.
Of course 18866 etc still works on these phones, it just takes longer to dial.
Does anyone else use this undocumented calling card feature on Nokia phones? If you don't, I highly recommend giving it a try (if it works for your model/software version of course). I'd be interested to hear your results
I know you can program the whole number in by using the pause function, but this method with the "+" makes it much more flexible, in that you can choose to dial any number in your phone list without having to edit them. Also you also have the option to dial the number directly without having to add another number to the phone list.
