FTTP - Any haggling against the BT Monopoly?

So I am lucky and unlucky in that I can get Fibre to the Premise, FTTP, ultrafast broadand at my new build house. I am unlucky because it is ALL I can get, no one else can deliver even standard broadband.
Hence I had a shock when I looked at BT's prices for broadband, even the cheapest package was £15 more than what I'm used to paying. I'm content with 36MB/s downloads, but for the bottom 50MB package with BT it's around £30 and with a 2 year contract!
So has anyone haggled on the prices OR the contract duration? And are there any incentives you've got from BT on FTTP packages? I see right now they offer Amazon Prime and some cashback via a reward card but that barely offsets the prices and the duration.
Also interested to know what we all think about the 2 year contract - my view is that it punishes the early adopters as prices will always be high when a product is new to market with little competition. I bet in a year the going rate will be 1/4 less, but anyone in it from the start is stuck!

BT do not have a monopoly.
You can pick any provider listed at https://www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband/fttp-providers0 -

FTTC does seem to allow providers to hit the sweet spot between speed and price. By contrast, FTTP seems an expensive luxury capable of offering speeds that few residential customers need (yes, I know those hoping to be able to stream games at 8K will disagree).0 -

First off it's not all you can get as there's Virgin (if they don't supply, take it up with them) and 4G (soon to be 5G).
Who do you pay £15 for 36Mbps fibre? £20 minimum at the cheap end and BT do at least have good service to offset the extra charges.
Amazon Prime and the £60 cashback is worth £5.67 a month over the 2 year contract which will offset the cost for you. You can always call them and ask.
You wouldn't be 'an early adopter' as FTTP has been around for quite awhile. I'd bet that the price won't be 25% lower in a year.0 -
As above no monopoly and you are not an early adopter .
OP would be better off asking Sky Plusnet Talk Talk etc why they will not supply FTTP .
As to deals yes i pay under £7 pm for 80/20 FTTP .Plus Line Rental
Bit sad this high speed rollout as so many dont want it .0 -

Your paying £26.99 for broadband and line rental which everyone on here will consider the price. It's misleading to deduct the cost of the line rental and say that's the price of the broadband because you can't get the broadband on it's own without line rental.0 - Broadband and Calls £66.49
-
Amended to Line Rental + BB at £7 pm as that the price BT quoted .0
