    But plus materials (ie grouting, adhesive, plasterboard, plaster, waste fixings etc), waste removal costs or skip, and possibly VAT, and you could be easily at £6.5k as per your 1st quote.

    I would still look at reducing the tiled wall area and rethink the tiles on the floor (will just be cold underfoot), and reduce the overall cost that way.

    Thanks - we have got one more quote from a guy my partner knows the work of for a long time and is trustworthy too so it will be interesting to see. I used to hire a Polish man who worked alone years ago and I remember he was quick, professional and much cheaper so that’s why these estimates seem so shocking. You have to take a second mortgage out it seems for a bathroom. 🙂
