Whatever you're due will need to be manually calculated by BA as there's no guarantee it will be half of what you paid for your return ticket (it may be more or less). Basically you have two options. Either take a refund from BA for the cancelled flight and eat the cost of arranging alternative flights yourself to Texas or push for BA to cover the cost of rerouting (in which case you obviously get a refund of your original ticket). Since it sounds like you've already gone down the former route I don't know that there's more you can do except wait for your refund.

Hate to rub it in further since it's been mentioned already but these kinds of situations are usually much easier to resolve if you have booked directly from the airline. Nothing you can do about that know but it's something to keep in mind for the future.
  • For clarity, you are seeking a refund for your unused/cancelled segment, and not compensation. Use of the word compensation is likely causing some of the issue when communicating with your TA and/or BA.
  • After waiting 4 weeks I am getting £495 refund from BA via Travel Trolley. Success. Wont be using Travel Trolley again as comms poor but I thought I'd share it anyone else is in limbo waiting .. I wont close the Resolver case with BA until money hits the account
