  • Hi Sue
Our A & L branch closed here some time ago. Its no problem as I do everything on line and can pay money in at Post Office but I can remember years ago when I saved coins the bank said only two bags a day. Do others have problems paying in, its so easy to go to supermarket to change machine but it does cost. I have a clubcard plus account with Tesco so will put cash straight into that to stock up on special offers. Thanks to these boards I have Christmas all organised and paid for. Martin follows me around all the time whispering in my ear whenever I get my purse out. Am looking forward to opening three tins on Dec 1st, I'm like a big kid. Thanks for all your help.;)
  • Hiya sue uu,
I have to dash off to help my sis who is ill and trying to move house in Oz, so wont be here when the pots should be opened Doh.
Have decided to open them when I get back, about the 16th dec and please please don't forget to add me to the next challenge, I will try and look in while I'm away, but not sure if I can.
Good luck everyone, hope the grant opening of the pots goes well.

Thanks guys! Good luck to you all !! I'm sure you have done brilliantly!

My problem is I dont know what to spend it on. Dont want to just put it in savings, dont want to just blow it either. think I'll save half, treat myself to a new outfit for a wedding Im going to, AND treat myself to Coco Mademoiselle which an obscene amount of money for a perfume !! :D

I'm definitely in for next years :D

moneypooh - just two weeks to go just doesn't seem possible, a bit like Christmas, wait for months then the last couple simply fly by! It's so good to hear that your youngsters have really got the savings bug, seeds sown for the future there!!! :j Thanks oopalah, you getting more as it gets closer was just what I wanted to hear! ;) Must pop and see if hubby's pockets need clearing out, I often dust them too - for his own good!

Twas dull and grey here too LC, but they didn't forecast it, blighters! Food for thought re the Paris trip.

Flippin heck mummytummy, you certainly sound extremely hopeful with your 5L screenwash container!!! Then start another all being well??? Can we all come round when you open it?? ;)

I see what you mean now irishwexford. I'll certainly let you know if I have problems paying in, though I'm hoping not. I thought it was just me and my mind when I 'see' Martin following me whenever I think of spending, trouble is it's not just him........ it's all of you too!!! :rotfl:Still, it doesn't half help keep me in check! :j

Hi HWGA. I've just seen your post on the running thread (sounds more like sewing!), a real shame about your sister, I hope the move goes smoothly especially as she's ill too, though she's lucky to have you go over to her! All being well I'll be able to let you have the same number as this year, makes sense rather than changing everyone around. Have a very safe journey, back again too! Look forward to seeing you after the 16th if not while you're in Oz.

    Good luck, HWGA.

Hi jamtart - if you don't really need it now, why not leave it in and add to it for next time, or a time you might need it. Otherwise, go on and spoil yourself! :D We'll be right behind you - possibly even physically!!! :rotfl:Just joking honest! ;) Great about you being in next year too, 2nd Dec don't forget!

Hi everyone! There's a thread on the "Anything Else Money" board and they're chatting about bags of money being changed at the banks.

Apparently shops have to pay to get change from the banks!!!! Have a look at the link which is here It may well be worth asking at a local shop or pub to see if they want change before you take it to the bank.

    Good luck.

  • Thanks Sue for that link. I assumed that the 7% supermarkets charge goes to charity, will check this out. No way am I giving them my money otherwise. Small shops would perhaps welcome the change but I would have thought they would need a cash weighing machine. One poster takes money to post office with no problems. I will check out our local one as A & L cash can be paid there.
