Everyone seems to be doing so well so far either saving loads of change or making pigs and cows:j
My efforts have been a bit pathetic, the few coins I've managed to 'find' sounding very lonely at the bottom of my pot. So I had a really good rummage in the car and found a few coins in various compartments and all duly went into the pot. So far so good!
Then yesterday I had to go shopping to another town and it was imposs to find a free car parking space anywhere, I was wasting petrol even trying. So I had to go into a paying car park in desperation:eek: . I only wanted a short stay and the cost was 60p which wasn't too bad I suppose, given that it was pouring with rain and I was by now late and in a hurry. Guess what? I had no small change because it had all been turfed out for the money pot and I had to use a £1 coin. No-one in sight to get change from and as it was pouring I just had to use it. The dratted machine didn't give change, so that was 40p 'wasted' . So much for my money-saving!
Must do better:o0 -

Impo, you could always try my 'shopping avoidance' tactics of ordering as much as possible online and if there's no delivery service nearby, find a friend or relative you visit or who visits you and get the deliveries sent to them. I must be the High Street's worst nightmare! What's more, I even scrounge Tesco points whilst collecting Co-op points! I finally received proof that it does work... use a Tesco Clubcard Credit Card to pay your shopping in Co-op and you reap the benefits from both! And in true MSE fashion, always convert to Tesco Deals so you get much, much more for your points.
I made a few pence extra for Phil the Pig last night by emptying out the speakers of the hi-fi! Some little person, not naming any names, had pushed a handful of change through the gap in the middle of the speaker! I also found a pound coin in the DVD slot! Guess what the little princess is getting for Christmas? A bank of some description! LOL Ain't it great being a (very, very young) grandparent?!I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I love this challenge, I have been adding coins to my tin every sunday night and it rattles nicely. I feel very wholesome and good having coins left at the end of the week and I am already looking forward to opening the jar next year :j I have also managed to get a friend to join in this challenge too, she hasn't been on MSE yet, but I have given her the address so hopefully she will find her way here soon!0
