    Hi everyone,

Can I still join in for the rest of the year? As Tirlittan does, I also already save my 1's, 2's and 5's, but am aiming to cut our spending as we don't seem to be budgeting very well at the moment, even though we are paying extra off the mortgage each month - just overspending on food and stuff we don't need!

    Thanks!

Traded some £1 coins for £2 so I'm now up to £150.00. DD has opened her sealed tin today as we were saving for our holiday. She's been saving birthday money, pocket money ect since xmas and has £57 to take away with her.For a 6 year old I think that's pretty good going!
Ds is still away at army camp and will open his when back.he will be lucky to have £10 in his.You know what 14 year olds are like.I'm now wondering if I should open my £1 tin and my sealed pot tin and use for holiday spends then start saving again for Dec 1st.what does everyone think?

Up to you hun, depends when its gonna be more useful to you :)

Molly, If you've got no spending money for your holiday, then you're going to need some. The thing is , if you take all your savings then you'll spend it all (that's if you're anything like me), so why not just take half of it and keep the rest sealed till December? Just a suggestion, honey :)
It's horrible having to watch the pennies all the time, but that DFD is coming ever closer.

Thanks for the advice.Money is tight and I'm always counting pennies when we have our yearly cheap holiday.I decided to open my sealed £1 tin like my DD did and my Ds will when he gets back from cadet camp.We can then start our tins off again together for next years holiday spends.I had £40 in £1 coins in there :)

I am also going to take my £2 coin collection of £150.

My sealed smash tin containing all silver except 5ps is still sealed so I can continue this challenge. I have one debt finishing in August and that payment of £50 per month is now going into a savings account I've named the Sealed pot challenge so that I can pay myself back for the holiday money before December.Hope that makes sense lol.

    To summarise I still have
    1) a sealed pot containing an unknown amount of silver
    2) a Nutella jar containing 5p's.I have counted and there's £17.40 at the mo.
    3) a Roses tub nearly full of coppers.

My goodness this savings lark is hardwork but well worth it :)

Hi everyone and a warm welcome to the new members! Good to see you again Stunty, good luck with the issues and we'll hold you to your promise!;)

A very wise decision Molly. You need cash on holiday anyway, but this way you'll have money for all your needs, plus with soon having £50 less to pay out each month life will hopefully soon become less of a hardship for you. I really do hope that's the case. Whenever your holiday is, enjoy it to the full and let your hair down with the youngsters. Your DD sounds as though she's got her head screwed on well, the good example set by Mum obviously! :D

    Well done Molly.
