Well done mumzy for getting it in top tips email :) All us origional savers know the challenge was origionally from 1/12/07- 1/12/08 and that is when I myself will be opening my tin to see if I met my personal target.
If new people want to join and set their own targets it just means they have less time to save. They should still aim to open on 1/12/08 but set their own target accordingly to the time they join.
lost my way but now I'm back ! roll on 2013

Ooh, that should make it even more exciting for the most recent members as we'll all be starting opening our pots on 1st December and they'll still have a month to go if they stick to the basic sealed for 12 months general rule :) I know 'Phil the pig' won't have much in him because he's small change and I live mainly on plastic but if he makes it to £100 then that'll be well worth cutting a hole in him LOL

Back to keeping grand daughter company from Monday and I've just gone through all my free 'offcuts' for my cottage industry challenge. Found some really interesting stuff in there this time! 3 old rolls of flipchart paper that will be fantastic for papier mache! Guess what'll be back in production from next week? :j

I'll go with the majority. I see why we need a deadline, but theres a bunch of newbies who want to join.....
more importantly, is a nice cashmere sweater ok for a date????

Re: Joining date: I'm all for ldetting people still join. I joined quite late in the day (only about a week ago) but won't be able to start this properly for another couple of weeks. If you set a "tin opening" date then everyone knows where they stand regardless of when they actually join. Bit of a pain in the backside to still be adding people, but it's such a great challenge and it's a huge compliment that people are still wanting to join.

Re: Cashmere sweater? Sounds perfect for a date!! Have fun.

Evening all! Wel I bid a tearful farewell to my friends K&J who are moving back to NZ tomorrow :( I've decided that "whang" the turquoise pig will be my NZ savings fund. Have put £15 on and will keep it maily for £2 & 50p's. I'm not going to count as I go if thats OK as want the surprise. It will take me a couple of years so end of year 1 I will pay whats in him off the CC & start afresh next year. Hope thats OK?
Re other people joining I dont see why not - the more the merrier. Its al about money saving and any way is best even if that means people join late. Plus it als makes it feel a bit exclusive to not allow peple to join & that makes me fel a bit uncomfortable as it goes against the MSE ethos of inclusion IYKWIM! I can understand why there was an original cut of but personally wuld feel happier if people could join. I see that this has already been decided but also wanted to say why I was happy with the decisio IYKWIM!
My piggy is looking quite sweet! Decorated within an inch of his paper mache life & I'll post when I get a minute to do it! Hope you're all OK & that the cashmere sweater did the trick stunty!
