Sealed Pot Challenge!!

Just let people join, most of the other Challenges stay open dont they?
I get it won't be a real 11 months for some but put a joining date by their name?
I moved all my change from all my piggy banks that I have been ignoring over this last year to three pots - my sealed pot for 50p's 20ps and 10ps, my jar for coppers and my NEW coke can money box which ok i didn't really need but got any way for 1 and 2 pound coins and evil annoying 5ps. I put my change in on a friday night since i get my money on saturdays. it was going to be mondays but I don't like having no money over the Weekend!
I am not counting my money as I go along, so long as I think its just a couple of quid i won't be tempted to open the can!

Hi all will try and get better at posting, but I get carried away with the reading and forget to add anything! My pot will just be 1's 2's and 10's will weigh it each saturday just so I can see the weight go up I hope! I have not set a target what ever is in there at the end will be a real bonus:j0

I'll go with the majority. I see why we need a deadline, but theres a bunch of newbies who want to join.....
more importantly, is a nice cashmere sweater ok for a date????I am one of the 63336.'It is better to have lived one day as a tiger than a thousand years as a sheep.'

Sounds lovely and smart
With regards to the challenge, I think if people want to join I would give it til the end of Jan and by that point there prob won't be many that want to joinSealed pot Member target £200 - No. 151

How about it being extended to the middle or end of Jan to let the others in, maybe they've just caught up with the threads over the holidays. It's a great challenge and the idea of a joining date is good if it stays open all year for people to join. :wave:A penny saved is one you don't have to earn! :wave:0

Hiya mse andrea has pm'ed me asking to keep the challenge open, but im not sure as it would not be a full 12 month challenge for new people who join. if you get me. what does everyone else think???
I tried a deadline on the 4k challenge but am still getting new people joining it. I think it's because many people skim the basics and don't actually read through all the posts, so they are unaware of any deadlines unless they are mentioned on every page. Also, many people don't realise how easily a post can be lost amongst all the others, so perhaps keep mentioning the fact that they will need to PM you to let you know, that way guaranteeing you see their post and add their number. There will be a reason for MSE Andrea PM'ing you, of that you can be sure, so best keep your options open and do as requested :cool:I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Hi all!
Just a thought, maybe it should be kept open and rather than start date being recorded, the date we plan to open the container be recorded. For many that would be Dec 1st for Xmas shopping. Others 1st January the start of the new Year but for others they may want to save for wedding, special birthday, new baby, charity event etc.
I'm thinking of it myself as a countdown to a date so maybe this would work OK even if our dates are all different. I think we could still encourage each other and I dare say when we are all successful we will want to start our next Sealed pot.
Thanks again Mumzy for the idea of this thread. I'll enjoy taking part however it evolves.

I had noticed that on the £4k challenge and also that there must be a reason for a PM from Andrea
If people want to join then maybe just let them, we each have our own goal of what we want to achieve from this challenge and we aren't competing agaisnt each other (are we :rotfl:)Sealed pot Member target £200 - No. 151
