hi catwoman
sorry to mumzy if im stepping on toes, some people are tracking their amounts, others are not, obviously difficult to update sig if not tracking.
I'm not gonna track so its a bigger surprise next xmas, and have to use tin opener to open my tin so would spoil it, and know others are using a terramundi so difficult to get into. but your choice i suppose, how tempted will you be to dip in if you can???

Can't believe how excited i am over this challenge :rotfl:
just added the challenge to my signature and realised that with my deposit tin, my 2euro tin and my weight loss tin I have about 250 euros-about £180:shhh: and thats not including the tin with gold coins in..or the 1 with bronze coins in :j ... they are all in the money tins you have to tin open...so im not going to open them until they are full..
So i can carry on saving in those too, I have decided that im going to "buy" my own groceries....lets see if i can make that make sense :rotfl: .. we are back to the Uk for xmas/new year and i will be bringing back some supplies that are much cheaper -nescafe, head n shoulders, bread flour etc... will store them in the basement and when i fetch anything out i will put the amount that i would pay for them here in the tin :T and when my salad n veggies start to be picked i will "pay" my tin how much they would cost me in the shops:D ... its the best way i can think of saving without stopping the tins i allready have in use :j
Have my mum getting me 4 more tins for when i go backallready have 5 in use

great!!
is it just saving one type of coin or mixed?
i will aim for £1000 - i know i can do it!!!
i sealed a baby milk tin and saved in that last year to send my hubby on holiday to see his mum - mixed coins for 6 months - i saved £565 and he was shocked!!!!!!!!!!!
where do you get the sealed tins from???:T Thanks to all lovely MSE'rs - you are great friends :T0 -
Any ideas of pots or tins that I can use again and again instead of breaking them. I have a large whisky bottle at the moment but I have lost the top to it. Has anyone got any ideas? on what I can use.cross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot

Hi everyone,
I'd like to join this challenge! I'll try to find a really big pot or tin, and hope to get more than £365 in it by dec 1st 2008. Not sure what I'll do with the money, but could be a lump sum to pay off some of my debts.

Ruby6kids, you can save whatever you choose, I'm doing 5p's and £2's elsewhere, so mine will be everything other than these, maybe even a paper one every now and then!!
And I've personally seen sealed tins in poundland, BHS and home bargains. and the slightly more expensive (!!!) terramundi's are in my local garden centre, can also be found on eBay and other sites listed earlier in this thread.
Catwoman - others have suggested big tins of chocs, obviously will need to munch through the chocs first! just seal with brown tape and cut slot in top.
