oh no moz! Are you still gonna manage to get your 250 now?! Back to OP I think we all do it sometimes & I think its a kind of DFW rebellion! Its not too lateto take things back though and we have to remember that at times we do actually have to buy things! At least now we DO panic which we'd never have done before would we eh! Just reign in the spending ow to make up for the splurge and try & look at what brought on that particular event so that you can avoid being in same situation again! Onwards & downwards!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

This is another me too!!
After months of no unnecessary spending (thanks CAFCgirl) I did the Debenhams Christmas shopping night!!
Yes I had planned to go - with my list - and take advantage of the 'up to 25% off' I did get some bargains like I planned, but also bought 2 cardigans, a pair of trousers, a manicure set and 8 pairs of knickers for me! Worse than that - I opened up a new credit card with them to get the extra 10% off!
Like some of you others it seemed like when I started I couldn't stop.
I know I can pay the bill as I am getting a back dated payrise next month, but that should be used for the existing debt.
Need to learn from this one.

Yep, I do it every Christmas, pass through the doors of Tesco and Asda and get taken over by some sort of insanity.
Not this year though. I am making a menu plan and sticking to my shopping list. No more "just in case" buying of food. I always have enough in the freezer to feed anyone who drops in, so there is no need for it.
I spent £120 in Tesco on Christmas food last year. With my normal shopping head on I could feed the three of us for a month on that!
Planning, planning and taking only cash with me to Asda. I think that will be the answer this year.0 -
I'm just as bad. I bought a new bed, which was desperately needed, I couldn't cope with the back ache anymore. Any normal DFWer would have stopped there, not me, I bought:
- Voile Panels
- New bedding
- Curtains to match bedding
- Bolsters to match bedding
- Bed cushions (x2) to match bedding
- Curtain pole (logic behind this was that the new bed was metal and the old curtain pole was wooden)
- Curtain holders

How glad am I this has been posted
This month has been a nightmare. We had to buy a new fridge freezer. Then the phones stopped working so I went to Mr Tescos but instead of buying cheap ones, bought nicer ones  , then had a clear out and realised DD had grown out of her clothes hence why she is wearing the same thing day in, day out.......so took her shopping today and spent more than ever had dared.
DH has had a slight bonus this month but some had to go on CC as it's the end of the month, am hoping to clear the additional CC by Feb though without affecting my current borrowings:rolleyes:
We have also forked out for a new sensor for the heating, only for the other one to work again - and now all boxes, wrapping etc binned from the other as it was neatly put up on our wall.
I am getting on ebay this week and getting some money back to pay for the above..............0 -

I think the thing is that even if you KNOW that there is loads of hype about extra % off extra, AND you KNOW that it is designed to get you in the store, you still think BUT IT WILL BE A BARGAIN! Even though it isn't needed.
Me I haven't done this yet, but on the other hand we saw a load of xmas presents today, which I will discuss with my in laws to see if they want me to get them on their behalf.
But I am waiting to see how much money I have in my various jars to add to my 'buying new clothes in the jan sales' fund, as I REALLY need some new stuff!
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

This so sounds like me - bought a couple of pressies and found myself adding stuff for me too. Thought, "well, I haven't had anything for ages, so..." Knew I shouldn't , but... glad I'm not alone.Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -
What's so special about this Xmas thing anyway? :rolleyes:0
