Has anyone else lost the plot ??

Options
I have completely lost the plot this last week or so and am really struggling to rein in the spending. I have spent a fortune on Christmas as per usual. I have got an ASDA delivery coming tomorrow which is humongous and really wasn't required. I have gone and paid £80 today for wall paper for my kitchen ( I had already bought paint and changed my mind) and I just want to spend spend spend. Problem is I am using my card   . I am giving it back to my mother tomorrow to stop me spending on it.

Is anyone else struggling ??

    HI

I think we all go through times like this - it's sooo hard to keep going on the straight and narrow that it's almost inevitable that sometimes we break! Once you've given your mum the card, forget about it. Don't beat yourself up and definitely enjoy each and every item you've spent on - could you use the paint for another room in the house? Maybe freshen up somewhere else that'll make you smile?

Or have you returned the paint? Sorry- having glass of wine now and getting confuzzled lol. If you've still got the paint you could offer to paint someone elses room as a Christmas pressie?
    I'll stop now!!

I was exactly the same a couple of weeks ago. Although I regret wasting all the money it was worth it in a couple of ways:
1 I have some nice new things
2 It proved to me that spending like crazy isn't a good idea and now I'm all enthusiastic for my dfw ways again.

  • millionaire i for one have had my fair shares of falling off the dfw waggon but the most impotant thing is that you ahve jumped back on, yes it may take you a few months to get back to where you were but we learn from our mistakes. I echo sea, enjoy what you have brought and put it down as another step in your dfw journey :)
  • Going to paint the loo with the other paint so thats okay I'm just peed off after all the hard work I've put in that I am ruining it. Hopefully I will stop now that I have confessed lol

The problem I have found is that since my LBM (July 07) I have hardly bought anything other than essentials. With shopping for christmas it's like having 'permission' to spend. Apart from Christmas presents I have bought 2 tops, pants and a pair of shoes almost identical to ones I have already!

This is sooooo true Penguin! Once I buy something, it almost opens the floodgates and I end up buying loads....

  • millionaire - if you feel bad take them back and get your money back.

our circumstances have changed and we now don't have any credit cards or store cards or overdraft facilities. it is hard going getting used to not spending on credit or having a credit card to fall back on. we are having to live within our means or else we will get charges.

good luck on getting back on track
