For years I have been getting 30 x 5p for small supermarket purchases often doing several small transactions simultaneously, just tested and found can do 1p water payment by debit card, whilst wont save card details probably wouldnt take long to do a few payments per day whilst logged into water account.:)

Might it not be better to use the account as it was intended and actually earn the cashback rather than leeching?

Would be interesting to see if it pays out 5p for making a 1p transaction?

I agree that this isn't what Co-Op likely intended, but this is MSE after all...

This is the Budgeting and Bank Accounts forum. I don't see how that suggests its main purpose is to go all out to get free money from accounts you have no intention of using as intended.

So you have just one PO saver pulling money from Coop 4 times a month and that gets you the reward? I still haven't managed to figure out if that works or not

This is what I do to get the £4.
But i couldnt be bothered to type in debit card 30 times into a savings account for 5p a time (I do similar with my Tesco account to get much larger amounts in clubcard points though). I just use it for small valuecontactless transactions. Sometimes I get the full £1.50 sometimes I dont.

I cba to do the fakery for 5p a time* - but I smiled to my self once when I realised after I'd paid for my goods that I needed a carrier bag.. So they charged me 5P for the bag ...which I paid for with my co-op card.

*But I did a couple of years ago for the (was it TSB?) extra £5pm for 20 debit card transactions...

I disagree about not using it as intended. The account pays out £5.50 a month for having 4 DD's and 30 debit card transactions. If people do that, it is using it as intended. This thread is just discussing how they do it and how they maximize it.

It's not like this is a loophole that anyone has found and is exploiting.

I do what you do, also suggested the NS&I direct saver elsewhere for the 30 transactions (the payment section is very speedy and reliable). I don't do them all in one go though, cos apparently you could get red flagged for suspicious activity. So, I do 4/5 transactions per day over a week. Its not at all time consuming, just a matter of copy/pasting the 16 digit number several times from notepad, I can remember the 3 digit security code and expiration, so its literally 15 seconds per transaction. So, 5 minutes effort for the full reward, I'll take that extra £1.50 than waste time filling in online surveys that most often yield nothing after 15 minutes of effort. I can understand why people wouldn't be bothered with this process though for the sake of £1.50. I just look at it as my NS&I account is earning me 5% extra interest per month on the £30 I send there.

If I’m feeling particularly bored I make several £1.50 payments on my Sky account and/or my BT account online. I rarely bother though.
