Klarna threatening debt collectors

I bought some ear phones from coolstuff.com in June 2019. They did not work so after emailing coolstuff.com to confirm I could return them I returned them within days of receiving them. The only payment option they had was with the company Klarna who collect money later. I did not hear anything so assumed the return had gone through.
Over two months later Klarna contact me saying coolstuff.com have not received the item so want paying. I couldn’t find the receipt of return after so long. I informed Klarna through email which they initially replied to but then they started sending me letters but wouldn’t reply to any more emails.
Today I received the 3rd letter which is now threatening debt collectors so I phoned Klarna (a number they do not put on the letter but which you have to search for online) and was told by the advisor he couldn’t view my emails content nor put me through to someone who could, admitted this is coolstuff.com fault for not flagging the issue quicker but the responsibility to prove the return is still on me.
I am worried about the debt collectors and the effect it will have on my credit rating but I can’t produce the receipt. Can they expect proof so long after? Is there anyone I can contact about this? If there was a problem why didn’t they contact me quicker? My local Citizen Advice centre has stopped taking emails due to staff shortages and only have limited hours for calls and walk ins. The citizen advice area on here won’t let you post new threads and doesn’t seem to have any action since 2012. I don’t know where to turn to.

Items you buy do not show on your credit report, only things that involve credit of some kind.
Which return service did you use ?
How much were the earphones ?
The kind of debt collection mentioned only involves some small time bottom feeder debt collector emailing/ringing or texting you until either you get fed up and pay or they get bored and move on, it won’t cause you any sleepless nights, I wouldn’t worry too much.
Edit, having just researched klarna, this is a form of credit and may effect your file after all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. The way Klarma work is that rather than requiring you to pay upfront they allow you a certain amount of time from placing the order to requiring payment. I used them once. I actually paid them quite quickly, there being no reason not to, and nothing whatsoever appeared on any credit report.
June is not really that long ago. I think that if the seller of the items is claiming not to received the returned items, requesting proof that you returned them is not really unreasonable at all.
I also doubt that in the first instance Klarma contacted you to say that coolstuff had not received them and wanted paying. I would imagine surely that there was some prior contact between you and Klarma in order for Klarma to be aware that you had returned them for refund? Also I believe that the retailer will have already been paid. Klarma is now out of pocket and is presumably seeking something concrete from you to enable them to re-debit the retailer's account.0 -

It depends what type of receipts. If I had returned some goods by recorded delivery or some similar service yes I think I would have retained the post office receipt until I knew the matter was settled.
It is so easy to say 'I sent the goods back' ……..0 -

I wouldn't expect a company to email me to say "We haven't received the goods back yet." I'd consider it my responsibility to chase it up if they hadn't received any confirmation of the goods being received.
But maybe that's just me...0
