    RAV4 ?

    Worth a look

I've got the updated RAV4 hybrid 2.5 litre petrol, I absolutely love it - getting about 60mpg, and it's been updated completely both inside and out. Much better boot space than the older rav4 hybrid, as the battery was stupidly installed at the back of the boot.
  • 2.5L petrol giving you 60mpg, that's amazing!
  • If you sit in lots of traffic you will most likely have problems with a DPF, less so if the DPF is bolted to the turbo, the DSG is troublesome and costly when it goes wrong on VW's and they seem to have a lot of issues that I've seen on the VW forums, as for 2.0 or 1.5 try both you may find the 1.5 is under powered.

There are no DPF's on these TSI engines because, err, they are petrol.
  • Skoda Karoq?
Had been considering Audi Q3 but like-for-like Karoq is £100 per month cheaper for 4 years PCP. Didn't cost Tiguan but guess somewhere between these 2.

I like the Tiguan R-Line with auto box and the Dynamic Chassis Control as I heard the ride can be a little firm without due to the sportier suspension and 20" wheels.

Husband has an 18 plate R Line and I've got a Match edition and neither of us have experienced his car having a firmer ride than mine - they're both very comfortable, even when husband spends 6 hours driving on the motorway. Unless ordering one from new then it will be an auto gearbox - there are very few manuals, as I found out when looking for my husband's. There wasn't a single manual 4wd on the VW network in a 100 mile radius of where we live - dealership sourced a 6 month old one that had been used at VW HQ (where mine came from too). If you're looking for a recently registered rather than new one then it's definitely worth asking about what they are showing on this list (it's released every Monday) as your local dealership can source from it. Over an £8k saving by buying one at 6 months old with 4k miles. Boot size should be fine for you - it takes a full sized pushchair plus a ton of other crap too.

Yeah I missed that, so many 1.5 are diesel did make the assumption and missed the TSi......did think it strange a 1.5 in such a big car but then 1.0 in a mondeo........
  • I went in to a different VW dealer to see if they had the exact model in and they did.
I asked the sales advisor about the 1.5TSI engine problems and apparently they are now fixed. They stopped production of the engine and created a fix and an update to existing cars with the problems. That makes some sense as I have seen no new posts online for the past few months.
They also said the R-line suspension although firmer than the SEL is still reasonable and that the idea I had of opting for DCC to make it more comfortable probably isn't necessary and that I should save my money. I'm still slightly worried about speed-bumps (there's a lot on my commute)
They have a few cars that are on order at present and have no buyer otherwise if I spec one myself it will be 24 weeks for a build week and then the week or so for it to get to the UK :/

why don't you ask for an extended test drive? A day or a half day to see if it meets your needs.
