Whale watching tips.

We went on a day trip whale watching to Norway (from Bristol) some years back.
It was flipping cold - they were advising women to wash off any moisturiser/ make up from their faces before they went outside on the boat as otherwise it was likely to freeze.
We had a fantastic day as we were lucky and saw loads of whales (the week before they hadn't seen any).
On the flight home, just after take off, we got an announcement form the pilot to say that they were dimming the lights and would be flying a figure of 8 so everyone could see the Northern Lights which were particularly good that day!
It was a fantastic but tiring day which cost us just under £500 a head.0 -
Saw some in the Canaries but seems a bit hit and miss. Australia (Fraser Island) is good in season for humpbacks but will probably break the budget.
What time of year are you looking at? September in Hermanus/Walker Bay, a couple of hours drive from Cape Town, is reliable for southern right whales and a few days in CT, plus some whale watching, penguin viewing, wine tasting etc would be a great 50th! And could be within budget if planned carefully.0 -
Pop down to the Thames. There's a Humpback Whale swimming up and down as I type!0
