CCJ Question

what is this? Ive never heard of it before. Is it a free service?
It's not free, you pay an enquiry agent / tracing agent to try and locate the claimant.
There are a few things you can do yourself, for free. Check 192.com, use Facebook as I'm sure you would recognise a phone of the claimant, Google the person's name as they might be on LinkedIn and other social media sites, or it might show they died.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
Was the CCJ a defaulted judgment or did you defend the case but lost?0

Well im not going to pay someone to clear a debt of £400. If it is relatively cheap for like £20 then that is fine but if its £100 or something then ile probabbly not. I will try the other methods and ile post a letter to the current occupiers asking them if they have a forwarded address0 -
Depends on the reason on why you are settling it, is it mainly because you need it to show as satisfied and its a relatively small debt, so easier to pay than dispute. Most personal CCJ's arise from some dispute, e.g. work done and not paid. so is there anything to show the debt is not valid. If the creditor cannot be found and a set aside application was raised the creditor would be contacted to see if they disagreed - no response would be taken as no disagreement. Depending on the strength of your case a judge may set aside, and whilst the creditor would be able to issue a new claim if they are uncontactable it's unlikely they would.defaulted, i did not defend it. Does this make a difference for my situation?
I'm not suggesting this is something to do, but it is an option in cases where debts can be viewed as a matter of opinion.0 -
How old is the judgement? Can you afford to wait until the six year expires and it falls off?0

no its nothing i can contest. Its defo a warranted CCJ. Its for £400 and was issued in 2015. I half one half years to wait it off till it drops off but i dont like leaving debts unpaid so its more a moral reason then anything else otherwise i would wait till it drops0

Moral reason!?
LOL
You’re the one always looking for loopholes and ways out of debts.
Moral.
Don’t give me that.0 -
