Back to the marzipan question, not read all so forgive me if I am repeating advice, my Gran made marzipan using soya flour margarine and almond flavouring. It was amazing!!Slightly bitter4

Personally, I can’t think of anything I’d like to eat less than marzipan. I just don’t like it, which is weird because I love fresh or sugar coated almonds.

I got out my wartime cookery books yesterday afternoon to have a little browse of the recipes because the fresh supplies won't last forever and we are trying to make them go as far as they will so as not to have to go out shopping and am really pleasantly surprised at finding many tasty sounding recipes made with an ounce of meat/cheese per person so I shall be giving some of them a try in the coming weeks. I think to start with to a modern palate they may sound (in the reading of the recipe) very dull fare but I've tried quite a few over the years and have never had that 'bland' taste I've anticipated in fact all the recipes I've tried have actually been tasty. If I do would you like the recipes here to try? or would that be a step to far for many of you? I'm happy to post them if they work for us in the first place.16

Yes please Mrs LW - my late mum use to be very good at that when we were growing up in the 60s & 70s due to no money but she learnt as a 1940 bride with rationing. We can tweak bland recipes with spices and herbs which she never didLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin8

That sounds like a brilliant idea MrsL.... we don't know how long this is going to last, and being prepared is half the battle. Thanks. XXI Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy6 -
A yes please from me too Mrs LW. I am isolating and have got reasonable stocks in the freezer and cupboards and my DS and DD can leave me the odd items I am running low on by doorstep delivery (they live nearby fortunately) I just worry if they come down with the virus and have to isolate for 14 days I'd be a bit scuppered if my stocks are running low. Frugal recipes sound ideal. (In fact I have a few of my grandma's wartime recipes which I might have to get out too!) Thanks xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream.
