Windows phone - WhatsApp support ending
Options
Apologies if this has been covered somewhere already, but I couldn't find anything with a quick look.
I have a Nokia Lumia Windows phone. I hardly make any calls on it, send very few texts, but do use WhatsApp a lot and also to take some pics, and like to have flexibility to browse internet and see emails when out and about. Currently pay 02 £11.62 a month for a package which more than covers what I need it for. (I'm out of any contract now so am free to do whatever.) It would be good to add a few Apps, but the ones I try to download never seem to be compatible with this phone.
WhatsApp support stops on these phones at the end of the year and it would be good to have something with a better camera on it, so I'm looking to buy a new phone, and am happy to stay with O2 as never had any problems with them or coverage. Have found possible replacement Nokia or Samsung around £130, which is my max budget. Know O2 will sort the change as SIM not compatible, etc.
What I can't work out is whether it might be cheaper to move to PAYG? I won't be paying much at all for calls or texts, but I will want to use WhatsApp, internet and view emails when out and about. Is there any easy way to compare staying on my current plan (assuming O2 will let me do that?!) versus moving to PAYG? I will of course ask O2's advice when I go in with the new phone.
Just wondered if anyone else had a similar dilemma and how you reached a solution?
