Concerns About Dubai

Options
Good Day,

I am thinking about a family holiday to Dubai next June (we know it’s hot) to Atlantis.

I am really stressing as I really do want to go, but one of my children has learning difficulties and behaviour problems, he gets extra help at school but at times he has his tantrums and can be so rude.

He has assured me he would be on his best behaviour but I’m so worried about what would happen if he would have an episode. My other two daughters I do not have any concerns over.

Should I be avoiding Dubai?

Thanks

No more than you'd avoid anywhere else.
Sure they'll have naughty kids in any country.
  • There naughty but then there is rude, unfortunately.

I've been to Dubai twice as my boyfriend was brought up there.

There were lots of childrens with additional needs there. I don't think there will be an issue. It's not like kids with additional needs aren't born and live there.

I have experienced disapproving looks myself (I think for being a woman travelling alone and I believe for being with my boyfriend) but nothing is actually said or done and I doubt they would take action against a child.

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. But is swearing not against the law out there? Kid or not I doubt it would be overlooked.

    Thank you

Could be an issue if it's taken as blaspheming I suppose.
  • This is the concern we have. I have called the hotel and they said they don’t see it as an issue. It’s so hard to know what to actually do.

I'd take the hotels word for it and go.

How old is your son and how big? If he is in his teens and big built people may think he is an adult and be inclined to treat him differently from a six year old.
  • He is 7 years old

Why risk it? What do you want to specifically go to Dubai for that you can't get elsewhere?

There are plenty of quality hotels, sand dunes, and duty free shopping in the Canaries, and they won't lop your head off because you forgot about the Night Nurse you had in your suitcase from last year.
