Things you were really glad about in your new home

Moved from a rented 1st floor North facing flat to my own South facing terraced pad.
Flat had storage heaters and no insulation so was freezing in winter.
In my terrace I have central heating and being in the middle the house is warmer.
Recon I have saved a bit on heating over the years.
Oh and I get the sun on my living room every day of the year (provided it isn't cloudy)Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
Moving from a flat and hearing everything our neighbours said/done to a house with a garden where it is so quiet. We had no outside space with the flat and now have a lovely garden. Who knew putting washing out on a line could be so exciting!!0

So true. I had never realised the joy one can get from a soft close toilet seat.diggingdude wrote: »You can't beat fitting a new toilet seat and then taking some time to enjoy your new throne

My neighbours, some of the loveliest people you could hope to meet. Really important in a terraced house0

We moved from a tiny house that we’d rented for four years to a house with a big garden, and space to have my books on a huge bookshelf not stuck in boxes in the loft. I was delighted!0

Forgot to add, I have lovely neighbours too.
I am so lucky.

Like The Apprentice, there had been a frighteningly weird and duff set of candidates in the alternative reality of house hunting, so although this one had many faults, I was just glad the search was over!:rotfl:We have a lot of threads about anxiety and regret after moving house... how about things you were really glad about?0 -
I too was glad the search was over, and when I stood on the back step looking at the fabulous view that came free with the woodworm, 50s decor, along with the need for wall ties, repointing, complete new electrics and plumbing, central heating, bathroom, kitchen . . . I knew that we were 'home'. All that stuff is fixed now (on my second kitchen and bathroom!), but I still look at and enjoy that view every single day. I like my 'larger than the last house porch' and the downstairs loo. Nearly 2 years on and every time I use it I say 'we're soooo lucky having a downstairs loo' and we go on to sing its merits. Not sure I'll ever tire of having one lol. Did have one once before, but the house was so toxic (swear to God - everything went wrong when I owned it for 2 years), I'm not sure I got to appreciate it!2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0

For the first few weeks we were in the new house we kept forgetting about the downstairs toilet :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
We have gone from having one loo to three
