Heating plans for boiler repair

420 Posts
Does anyone know if you can join any of the heating plan insurance companies with an existing fault and tell them and then get them to fix it straight away, the boiler wouldn't work today and now I'm worried about having a huge bill, any advice appreciated,it's a Worcester Bosch.
So annoying,I gave it it's first hour of heating since March last week and it was fine but today nothing, hot water ok but no heating

Thanks,I was thinking about joing them a couple of months ago,I wish I had then, the thing is I could ring anyone up and pay £200-£300 and then have further problems so I think it's the best idea getting the heating plan and fix.
We were spoilt by having a heating engineer that helped quite a few homes in my road that did jobs for what seemed like beer money,he had a full time job as a heating engineer but his work on the side was amazingly cheap he was one of those old fashioned gents that wasn't in the least bit greedy but just liked to help people,he even helped us free of charge sorting out small problems with toilets.
He's very ill now and so we're unable to call on him
There is also a plumbing cover option you can take, which has been helpful for my rental several times.
A common fault when you have hot water and not central heating is that the 3 way valve is stuck.
If you google 'heating 3 way valve is stuck' there are lots of websites showing how to move the valve manually(to confirm that is the fault). Sometimes moving the lever manually frees the valve.
Youtube has lots of videos showing you what to do
