microsoft update turns off wifi

Why is it that every time my laptop downloads an evil microsoft update it turns off wifi?

I go to Network & Sharing Centre and turn it on then go to restart and it says 'update & restart' - I have to restart many many time and 'update & restart' does not go away and wifi does not start - why is this and how do I correct it?

What make and model is the laptop ? Is it windows 7 or 10 ?

I would go to the manufactures site and download the drivers from there. Possibly the windows updated driver is not compatible with the laptop.

Quite a lot of info if you Google the problem, seems reasonably common. Could simply be that power saving is turned on. I fixed my W10 wifi problems by changing the card.

I would use the link above and select "let hp detect your product" once the driver list appears, download the WLAN / Wifi driver and run through the installer.
