If the party is weather dependant why did you opt for outside without make provisions for rain?

Wishful thinking perhaps. Yes it was stupid. No I won't do it again.

I can't make provisions for the rain though. They allow nothing.

They've actually now just asked me to change the date due to the expected weather so it doesn't look like they'll be completing the service at all.
We then this puts you in a better position. If they can't or wont provide the service on the date you wanted then they would be breaching the contract, not you.

I can't see anyone providing insurance against it raining?

It's at an activity centre which is aimed at children aged 18 months and up, but I don't dispute that it isn't their fault that the weather will be bad. They've actually now just asked me to change the date due to the expected weather so it doesn't look like they'll be completing the service at all.

Either accept their offer to change the date, or go ahead.

When you say activity centre, have you just booked the BBQ or are they leading some activities too?

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

What kind of company would sell outdoor BBQs for 2 year old kids and not make previsions for typical weather we get in this country?

Yesterday was horrendous, tomorrow is looking to be sunny, if they sell the service you'd expect them to be the ones making a prevision if not for the simple reason to save them having the messing about when people want to cancel whenever the weather is bad.

Pretty commonplace - obviously not worthwhile for a £45 booking, but you'd get it for bigger events.

For £45 I expect they are supplying the BBQ as a means of the OP cooking the food not running the event.

Obviously my comment was in relation to THIS event.

One can buy insurance for almost any eventuality. Prey tell where you would get insurance and at what cost?

Your suggestion that OP should have bought insurance was banal.
