On a package holiday and my CAA rescue flight has been rescheduled for 24 hrs (so far) after original TCook departure. Holiday co Olympic are putting us up overnight in accommodation but am I likely to be able to claim flight compensation or make insurance claim?

No the CAA will not entertain EU261 claims but you may well be able to make an insurance claim if it covers delays on the return flight0

We departed from Dalaman one hour late and had to return to Turkey after an issue with the plane. Following a lot of confusion, mixed messages and poor customer service, we finally left Dalaman 13 hours later. Is there any way of claiming compensation for the poor customer service received?0

We were delayed 16.5 hrs in Florida.
The CAA told us to book another night & we should get expenses.
We extended car hire & on return was charged extra for parking.
We had extra costs of an extra night of kennels & I lost a day & 1/2 leave as we were late back.
Our insurance company are not interested.
I suppose we would normally have got compensation for the airline, but as they don't exist, I imagine apart from the Hotel, which the CAA day thiley will pay for, we have to put it down to experience.
Unless anyone has any better ideas.
I'm a little disappointed in our insurance company.0 -

Erm, from who?It was an emergency flight put on free of charge for you to replace a flight a now defunct airline was meant to have done.
Be thankful you got home and move on .0 -
It was a Thomas Cook rescue flight on a plane not fit to fly and we were returned to Dalaman 10 minutes into the flight.0

Right OK, that doesnt change my last post one bit mate.
Maybe you could contact your local paper and do your best compo face, as you wont be getting any from the CAA or Thomas Cook thats for sure.0 -

try your travel insurance policy to see what they cover for scheduled airline failure (many policies don't cover) do you have financial losses that you are looking to claim for?
He got home on a replacement put on by the CAA, his out of pocket expenses on a replacement flight was £0. What claim is he able to make on his insurance even if they cover this?
He wants some compo because he was a few hours late and there was some "confusion" at the airport as people continued to try and sort out the biggest peacetime repatriation ever. He isnt entitled to a penny and he should be grateful he got home without having to put his hand in his pocket to pay for a pricey replacement himself.0 -

Hi,
If the aircraft returned due to a technical fault, which it sounds like, then normal rules would apply.
You would claim EU261 flight delay compensation from the operating airline for a delay upon arrival at your final destination of 3 or more hours.
Rescue flights are not exempt from the usual EU regulation.
The only issue I can see could be whether you technically paid for the flight or not, which would probably depend upon the CAA's or ECJ interpretation of the regs. You did pay for a return flight, just not this one, which is similar to a re routed flight due to a flight cancellation. You don't directly pay for the re routed flight but you are still covered by the regulations for another possible delay. Herein lies the quandary.
Try putting your flight details into a couple of flight calculators such as Bott & Co and EUclaim to see what they think.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0
