I pre-ordered a book on Amazon at the beginning of August. Last week I got an email with the imminent despatch date and I saw that the cost of the book had been ring-fenced on my bank account, leaving the balance to 5p. Then I get an email from Amazon a couple of days later saying payment had been declined.
If they had already ring-fenced the money for amazon, how come they declined the payment? Just trying to get my head around it.

Because some systems don't always use the ring-fenced money for the live transaction, especially if there is a difference in price.
They ring-fence it when you place the order then when they process the order they make a new transaction, leaving the ring fenced money to eventually drop back into your account.
Asda online shopping used to be a nightmare for doing this, if there was a price difference, which was always highly likely with grocery orders, people ended up with double the amount being taken from their available balance.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Speak to you bank/Card Provider. It is them that have declined it NOT Amazon.Life in the slow lane0
