So the last few days have been variable. Been so busy I haven't been able to get on here to update, but I have devised a spreadsheet so I can't hide from my spends and also I can look back and see everything I've spent.
weds - £7.40 on coffee and snack for me, the kids and my mum.
Thurs - £1.40 milk and mints. £56.14 on groceries from cash, however I over spent so £18.29 taken from my account.
I was a little frustrated, but I know what this was down to, making a shopping list that was never going to cover what we actually needed. However it is less than my usual weekly spend, and I also have a freezer full of food now, so should last at least 10 days. I also need to use this month to see where I'm going wrong, although I'm still trying to keep my spends low. Also sold another top on fb. £3 made.
Fri - NSD
Sat - £2.85 milk and bread, and £5 tip for the curry OH took us all out for.
Weekly budget
Was £14 - spent £13.80 potted 0.20p
Grocery budget
Was £75 - spent £71.79 cash, (potted £3.21) total spend - £90.08
Not great but much better than I would have been spending.
Previously I would have spent on groceries
5th oct - £100
12th oct - £100
To date I've spent £105 on groceries
Renewed my car insurance today. Was quoted £324, after updating a few things it went up to £367, I eventually got it for £297. So I was pleased with that. £10 less per month than I was paying. Might aim to save for next years renewal.
Will update next weeks plans later.SPC 18 Target £200 /0 -
Evening.
Well life is getting in the way at the moment, but I will make more of an effort to post updates, my spreadsheet is being completed daily so it's keeping me on track.
So my plan for this week was
Weekly Spends £40 - have a couple of spends activities so wanted to be prepared but aimed for low spending.
Grocery spends - £75
Petrol - £40
So how has the week gone... not great but I can see where my money goes now.
I spent £42 on period because the pump went over my £40 budget, and I had to round it up.
Weekly spends so far £28.35 will update exact breakdown over the weekend.
Grocery spends so far £37.95. £37.05 left, lots of homemade dinners in the freezer, small top up shop needed tomorrow

Morning.
So a failed week for groceries. But given £20 from OH so that helped out.
Don’t know exact figures as I’m out but weekly spends are coming in around £30, groceries around £90 and petrol £42
Thought I was going to eek out 9 days from my petrol but another journey to the MIL has screwed that.
I’ve redone my personal SOA and tried to be more realistic to stop me overspending from some budgets and having to dip into savings.
I’m hoping now I haven’t forgotten anything as the there’s not much wiggle room.
Mortgage and bills £500
Joint account £100
Union £20
Life ins £15
Contacts £19
Loan £135
Car ins £25
Mum £200
Hair/ make up / clothes £50
Phone £20
Petrol £160
Food £350
Entertainment £80
Credit card £100
Car maintenance £20
Xmas / birthdays £50
ISA £60
Leaves me £31 in my account.
I know I need to look at food and entertainment in more detail. But now I have something to work with.SPC 18 Target £200 /0 -

Soa looks good, Hope you dont mind me saying and i dont mean to offend but what i have always found strange is that couples that dont dont combine fianaces especially as they have kids together, there should not be my money his money but in fact there should only be 1 pot as the whole household budget which then get split into diffrent categories such as food, clothes, cars, etc....
I have grown up seeing my mum and dad combine finances togeather which from my pov if you going to share a life togeather then its "we" all in, as you may have found out if one person earns less than the other but also has debts and no money left over to do anything else, while the other has cash left over i can see why there would be some resentment, especially if the other person has benefited from the debts that were build up but is not contributing towards them etc....
Sorry dont mean to offend but ive always found it an odd way to live life“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”

Hi ratrace.
I’m not offended in the slightest. We used to live this way pre kids but we earned a similar amount so it really was just a case of splitting bills and anything else left was our own.
However since having children we’ve never had another conversation about it. And we’ve continued the way things were. I am becoming more resentful that he has money spare after bills to I spend as he pleases. I guess he also sees it that he pays in double what I pay into the bills account and only lives here at weekends. But then his earning power is more because he can work full time and I can’t.
Some of my debt has come about through my spending and overspending during my second maternity leave on general household expenses and some through my own overspending on clothes and other things.
We don’t have a great relationship at the mo so I think money is the last thing to be discussed. Although I am making a point of regularly telling him we don’t have any money. We don’t have any joint savings. Eg if he moans about the state of the carpet, or the fact we need our bathrooms looking at. I just remind him we don’t have any money.
He hasn’t been honest with me about his spending either so it makes me not want to discuss finances
I do have friends that say he should be providing for us and be happy to increase what he pays in regardless of whether he lives here regularly or not but I feel bad asking.SPC 18 Target £200 /0
