I'm sure you are genuine when you say that you didn't know, but is it at all possible that you heard about the changes but dismissed them on the grounds that 'this is only applies to pensioners - not 40 year old me'?
I've never been much of a tabloid or women's magazine reader, just occasionally in the GP or dentist waiting room! Motorbike and rock music magazines never mentioned it, lol.
I do vaguely remember hearing/reading that women's pension age was increasing IN a certain year, not BY, and that year was after the year I thought I was retiring. I've followed WASPI and Backto60 recently, and while I don't fully agree with their thoughts, I have seen articles from past newspapers they've published that stated what I remember. I don't understand why work pension advisers never mentioned it either.
I think I can safely say I seem to be a minority on this forum and we're all, as I say, entitled to our own opinions, but I don't feel I have the energy to keep trying to justify myself so I'm going to unsub from this thread. Thanks for all your thoughts though, despite what anyone might think, I do understand and accept differing opinions.0 -

I just came back to say I'm sorry about your Mum. It was in my head but I didn't type it.0 -
If anyone is tempted to vote labour in return for this 'bung', the fact that labour are willing to blow another £58B to try and buy the election on top of the likely impact of their other policies on the economy would lead me to strongly recommend they spend any bung they receive on canned food to put off the day when they have to eat their pets. I think the labour party should be investigated for sexism on top of their anti semetic investigation.0

You say you had an equitable life pension. So, your pension provider would have informed you about the changes to the state pension age. So, you appear to have missed that. And all the pension adverts at the time, the leaflets in banks and post offices, the media coverage etc.
Perhaps at the time, in your late 30s, early 40s, you didnt take any notice of pension things as you deemed it to be far away and unimportant?0 -
