Anyone know if travel insurance will pay out if you have to stay to look after a sick pet?

I should be in Hong Kong today.

My wife and I were due to fly out yesterday. But one of our cat's was ill. I took him to the vet and was told that he needed to be watched for 24/48 hours and taken back if he got any worse.
So my wife took the flight and I stayed at home.

I have RAC Black multi trip insurance. I've read all the info and there's nothing that comes close to cover this (hardly a surprise).

Anyone think this is claimable? Or should I just forget it??

Can you ring them and ask?

Is there anyone else who can look after the cat and you catch a later flight?

They only work 9 to 5 week days. No weekends unless it's a medical emergency.

Both our daughters are in Italy seeing friends. There's no one else I could get hold of in time.

I've certainly had cover for ill pets on some policies I have over the years, you'll have to check with your insurer for your particular policy, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility that you'll be covered.

You may wish to ask in the insurance section rather than the missale section

Have you contacted your insurer yet? No one here can tell you what your insurance policy covers..
You do realise this is the PPI board?
