Wheel Alignment discrepancies between two garages

So to clarify, you've had a car 17 years and not got the steering tracked?
Penny wise, pound foolish springs to mind.....
It gets knocked out by hitting things. Perhaps he just doesn't hit things?
Of course, the reality is that it almost certainly was done in that period - ball joints, bushes wear and get replaced, and part of that replacement is checking and adjusting the alignment.0 -
Tracking doesn't just go out by magic.

It never had any ball joints or bushes replaced. The worst bump it ever had was from a supermarket trolley.0 -
"Can't have been used much, then."
My Hyundai had done 185K miles on original bushes and balljoints when I scrapped it after 20 years.
I do my own tracking. Tyres wearing on outer edge, track out more, and vice-versa. I've not had garage tracking done for over 20 years and the last time it was a disaster.0 -
ok guys, update.
Monday went to independent garage and they checked again and showed me all "Green" on screen.
I asked for printout but there printer was broken, so I took photos using mobile.

so this garage is saying wheel alignment is 100% but KF check says it is wrong!
I sent pictures to KF manager on his whatsapp number on Monday, he still has to reply me!
Should I bring to another garage for third check! :eek:0 -
AdrianC, what would you say about adjustments from other crowd:

Best tracking in last 20+ years i did myself 3 years ago, so simple and cheap with nothing more than two A4 sheets of paper on flat ground.
Obviously you have to know the symptoms of what the paper does and how to counteract. The main reason all these tracking machines 'can be inaccurate' is they dont take in to account being driven whereby any play in any of the bushes even when new is taken up.
Some cars can change a fair bit under acceleration and braking, watch the wheels physically move forward or back wards.
Only 6 weeks back had a track at an independant they used no ramp just moved car back and forth several times to settle suspension and bushings. Obvious if wheels have dinks those clamp on lasers are pretty useless. They just said its within manufacturers limits Blue but got them to adjust front left to bring less toe out which took outside of tyre off. 4 k miles later wear is even.
Thats only basic mentioned above as the real best and only £30 is a full 4 wheel track and camber set. Unfortunately theres only two garages able to do so withon 200 sq miles. Likes of QFit and 90% of others state camber cannot be adjusted, it can with all Mcpherson struts!0 -

Front toe was mahoosively out, now in. Apparently. But the rear end's all over the place on this one, and yet was bob-on on both the first ones.
Frankly, with figures that far out, I'd have thought it'd be blindingly apparent from driving it that something was way out.0
