GHD Straighteners v cheaper brands

ive just got some ghds off ebay brand new still sealed for £69.99 and have to say i am so glad i paid out for them. ive had other makes and they were ok but my hair is so thick and curly they didnt keep it straight for more than a few hours (they also broke after a year or so). i used my sisters ghd's and it stayed straight a lot longer and was much quicker to heat up than mine. if you think you will get the use out of them (and 4 woman prob will) then it might be worth paying a bit extra????0

I have to vote 4 ghds. Stupidly expensive unfortunately but my hair has been the bain of my life, its very thick and needs pruning rather than cutting. Since i got the ghd's it is sleek and straight for the first time in erm quite a lot of years

I used to get my hair chemically straightened twice a year, then I got a pair of GHD's, I used to think they were over priced and the ones from salon services were just as good blah blah blah! no way, I will never use anything other than GHD's now, and I dont get my hair chemically straightened anymore, no need GHDs work wonders and keep my hair straight all day.Got Married 16/09/11 :j0

Kodo ones are just as fab, i got a pair direct from my hairdresser for £80 five yrs ago, they are still going strong and i use whichever ones (GHD or KODO) that i get out of the drawer first. when i got them though my hairdresser said there was only £20 - £30 difference between kodo and ghd, but with ghd you have lifetime guarantee kind of - everyone i know has sent their ghds back if they've stopped working/broken (as long as they've not damaged them) and been sent a brand new pair direct from ghd - if the kodo ones stopped working, i'd have to bin them, but i'd not complain after over 5 years of use !0

Hi
I have just purchased WHAL ceramic straightners and think they are good even my daughter who swears by her ghd's likes them they heat up very quickly and you can wiew them online at justbeautifully.com they were just under £40.00 inc postageAnn0 -
I have just recently broke my GHD's, and after much debat and advice seeking, went for the FHI from Hairsupermarket.com. In the shops they are around the £95 mark, through this website including postage and packaging, and typing in TEN in the promotional code box in the shopping basket, I got them for £56. and they arrived the next day.
They are slightly better than my GHD's in that they go to 323 degress which is hotter than GHD's. I have extremely thick hair, and these breeze through my haor in no time.
So my suggestion is FHI from hairsupermarket.com promo code TEN for £57
Happy hunting

just read the reviews!
other than that my friend swears by her Corioliss straighteners
Thanks, I have just ordered some of these for my daughter, the reviews sound great!0 -
thanks for all your suggestions. i am definately going to try something other than GHDs. I have seen the babyliss pro 230 in argos at half price £29.99. They heat up to 230 degreees which is hot enough i think. I may try them before i give them to my daughter and if they are not as good as GHDs i will take them back!! thank you everyone!!0
