Thanks again, I'll contact PIP Monday to see if things can be emailed to them, I think I mistaken a hearing like a medical, so wasnt surprised that I wasnt asked to send anything. Also what is a descriptor?
This is worrying that you have your hearing date and you don't know what a descriptor is. This isn't good because without some understanding and preparing for your hearing how do you expect to win your case?

The same link has be posted 3 times across your thread, in comment # 8,11 and 15. Have you actually read any of that? People have tried to help you but we can't win your case for you, only you can do that.

You don't contact PIP/DWP because at this point it's nothing to do with them. It's HMCTS you need to contact, as previously advised in one of my other comments.

A poorly presented case often leads to refusal and this could happen to you, if you don't prepare yourself.

As above... you are now dealing with the Tribunals service (HMCTS). They are dealing with your appeal. The Tribunals service is separate from the DWP who took the decision you're appealing against.

You are not attending a medical although there is every chance you'll discuss medical related matters. You will face a panel who will determine which descriptors apply to you based on the evidence they have. The evidence they have is what the DWP have supplied (the bundle) and what you supply and present if/when you attend.

If you don't know what descriptors are you are very late in the day playing catch up... these are the statements of disability that get you points to qualify for PIP and should be considered before filling in the Disability Questionnaire which asks questions and for information to get relevant facts and evidence from you in relation to descriptors in the 12 activities. There are 10 activities of daily living and 2 activities of mobility. For each of those activities are descriptors such as "Needs assistance to be able to dress or undress their lower body" in the Dressing and Undressing activity.. and in each activity they will select the most appropriate descriptor regarding you based on the evidence. All activities have a zero point scoring descriptor as well as point scoring descriptors. If across the Daily Living activities you score a total of 12 or more points you'll get enhanced rate, or if 8-11 points standard rate. Same for Mobility regarding the mobility activities.

You need to read the links provided and you've been given outstanding direction and advice. If you're not understanding it or not able to study or follow it then I would strongly suggest you get the support of someone you trust who is capable... and get them to read this thread and the links suggested. Probably everything you need to know is contained either in the thread or in the links given in it... or indeed is in the paperwork of your case which we cannot see and will never see.

  • Hi again guys, I have today received my entire medical history, which highlights all my issues by professionals over years and years, how is this evidence best used? Do I post it off to the Tribuneral? Or take with me on the day? Alternatively do I include key parts in my statement to proove what I am saying?

I asked my GP for a list of medication, instead I received all my notes which included a couple of golden nuggets of evidence that I did have what I said I had. So when I wrote to the tribunal saying why I met a descriptor and should have been awarded x points, I was able to point to the part in my medical records that was relevant.

I included copies of all my diagnosis. But you have to describe how the conditions affect you. Like with needing travelling assistance, help with planning, I described how distressed I got on a particular journey. I have a list of journeys where this happens lol.

You do need to write in. I had a lot of difficulties doing the writing so posted my letter special delivery so it was received the next day. There was no option to email with my centre.

In spite of an adviser feeling I had little chance of getting PIP, I actually was awarded enhanced care and mobility, so don't give up. But do prepare as well as you can.

I know you have waited for this hospital appt, but have you phoned the hospital to see if it there is any way it can be rearranged? Often they can. Usually the appt letter will give a phone number you can ring, ask for the consultant's secretary. But if this isn't possible (it should be) ask the tribunal service for another date, the worst they can say is no. Offer to email a copy of the hospital appt letter if they need it and will accept emails.

Sending huge amounts of evidence like this isn't going to help, especially if it's not related to how your conditions affect you. Medical records from a GP contain everything from the most simplest appointment and why you attended. That's not going to be of any use to you here.

You need to spend some time and go through all those records and see if there's anything that will help your PIP claim. If you find something then you'll need to send it to HMCTS with your name NI number and Tribunal reference number on everything you send. It should arrive no later than 10 days before the hearing date. As well as your written submission.

Thanks, I do have info in my records that will help with claim, do I send the actual relevent pages in with my claim, or scanned copies? I am building a statement together right now using the AdviceNow websites tool.

Always send copies only, never send originals. Make sure you add your name, NI number and reference number to everything you send. Send to HMCTS and not DWP.
