  • Suggest you ask whether they sell any gold coins as although it might cost more than by other routes, that wouldn't be subject to such steep depreciation as new jewellery.

I would love to buy bullion. It’s h samuels don’t think they do bullion?? The voucher came through insurance as my husbands watch was stolen luckily we had the serial number as proof. We were given the option as £600 cash but went for the voucher but due to expire so need to sell or spend.
  • Think your best bet as me and others have said is buy jewellery and then sell it on.

How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

Police often sell vouchers for £100s on Ebay so there shouldn't be a problem with that.

Unless of course the buyer pays using Paypal then there is no seller protection in place should the buyer turn out to be a scammer.

What is the Seller Protection Policy and what items aren’t covered?
Seller protection does not provide protection for:

Items equivalent to cash including gift cards.

Just because the police sell vouchers on ebay doesn't mean that it's safe, simply that they could afford to write the money off if someone scammed them and if they wanted to go after the scammer, they would have far more avenues available and more financial resources than your average private seller.

If they sell 24 carat gold items, I'd spend the voucher on that. Store them for a few years and then sell them to a jeweller. Certainly would not risk selling anything like that on ebay.

Why not buy the best watch you can and then sell that?

Selling it brand new with papers shouldn't lose you more than 20-30% if you can get a desirable brand for the money.
