What do spongy brakes feel like?

I'll say it again, the OP desperately needs further training. Get an advanced course in these different conditions including motorway work or we will have a thread every day saying things like "I can't see very well at night, it's quite dark, is this normal?" Etc.

OP - you've just passed your test a fortnight ago, and got your first car. It sounds like you simply aren't confident yet. Book some post-test lessons with your instructor. They really will help.

Sounds like ABS kicking in because of the road conditions,i remember the first van i drove with this in the snow,put my foot on the brake and the pedal started virbating,stillmanaged to stop but certainly different to what i was used to.
