Erm, have you posted this in the correct thread? :beer:0 -
If you want to choose your own airline then book direct with the airline you want. But if you did that, you would be complaining that you're going to have pay extra to book new flights after Thomas Cook has gone bust.
You're one of the lucky ones that you still have flights.
I've flown Easyjet many times and they have decent service.
If you want different flights do other airlines fly that route? Maybe ask your travel agent if you can pay extra to change flights if there's another airline you prefer?0 -

You can actually ask for EJ flights with Kuoni to keep price down, if they fly to your destination.0 -

Is the EasyJet cost for flights on your confirmation? If so, you should get the difference back
Feel very luck you got alternative flights
Last night they posted a blanket statement that everyone travelling in October had had their holiday cancelled as there were no alternative flights for anyone!
Unfortunately I had already booked an alternative flight first thing Monday.
Now they have cancelled my hotel & transfers and they are no longer available and I am stuck with a flight! Fuming...0 -

Hold out a little longer. Clearly those rooms have not been rebooked to anyone, wait for the cancellations to filter through and they may become available.
It is the way the system works for protected packages. One part becomes unavailable so the system cancels the lot and prepares to refund (the advantage of protecting your holiday) once the unbooked rooms become available on hotel booking systems they should appear again.
We had the same with the BA pilots strike. TA said we would have had a full refund had we booked all as a package, but as we didn't we could have a refund of the flight or an alternative booked, but our hotel booking stood on its own. So we accepted a re routed flight home and were happy to go on our holiday. Had the whole lot been booked as a package the TA first reaction would be to cancel the lot!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. From loveholiday's FAQs
I don’t like my rebooked flight, can I cancel my booking?
We are sorry that you don’t like your alternative flights, however, our top priority has been to secure you suitable alternative flights to enable you to continue with your holiday. Due to the extremely high demand for alternative flights and the limited availability of seats, we had to act quickly to guarantee you could continue with your holiday. The law also states that where a suitable alternative flight is available, we have to book this for you. A “suitable alternative” may include a flight from different regional airport (London Luton to London Gatwick for example) or up to 12-hours from the original departure time. These changes are considered (under the ABTA Code of Conduct and under the Package Travel Directive) to be a “minor changes.” Unfortunately, these will be the best flights we could find for you in these extremely difficult circumstances.
The new flights have already been booked and are subject to our normal terms and conditions if you now wish to cancel.
And their "normal T&Cs" regarding cancellation of flights...
9. Cancellations by you
You may cancel your booking at any time prior to departure upon payment of a termination fee as set out in this paragraph.
In the event that you do cancel your booking, and the deposit you have paid does not cover the cancellation charges set out in this paragraph (e.g. because you have chosen a low deposit option), you must pay any difference between the amount you have paid and the cancellation charge applied. In accepting these Terms & Conditions you give your authority for us to automatically charge the payment card used by you when securing the booking (or any other card used by you in connection with this booking) at that time.
Any cancellation will incur a cancellation processing fee of £75 per Package booking and £25 for hotel-only bookings plus any charges from the Service Provider(s) as follows:
Flight: 100% of the value of the flights is non-refundable from the point of booking (including baggage, insurance, etc.).
Accommodation: Cancellation charge will depend on whether you have booked a refundable or a non-refundable product. Cancellation charges will be specified to you at the time of booking and vary from one Service Provider to another. You should check your Booking Confirmation and any documentation for details of your specific cancellation terms.
Non-Refundable products may have been paid for in full at the time of booking and no refunds are given in the event of cancellation as per section 8 above.
Transfers: 100% of the value of the transfers is non-refundable from the point of booking
TLDR: If you now cancel, it's unlikely you'll be entitled to a refund.
There's potentially a challenge on what they deem a "suitable alternative" or a "minor change" ... but for right now, and if I were you (and i'm hoping to be in your situation as i also have a package booked with loveholidays waiting for them to re-arrange my flights) .. i'd be grateful for the EJ flights and move on0 -
Funnily enough, we are in the same situation.
We booked the more expensive Thomas Cook flights because we didn't want to fly easyJet, nor arrive back in the UK at close to midnight and then still have the journey home, in darkness and while tired.
It turns out that we are going to get the easyJet flight anyway, the same one that we purposefully avoided to begin with. Most people on this forum seem to think we should be grateful even!0
