Thomas Cook help

Hi, my girlfriend and I were due to fly from Belfast to Turkey on Sunday 22nd Sept. The full package was booked through Thomas Cook. Obviously it was all over the news that they were going into administration. We phoned the hotel who advised us not to travel. On Monday they went bust. I now have the ATOL claim form but 2 things are concerning
1. We didn't receive an ATOL certificate even though it says on the docs we are ATOL protected
2. We weren't on the holiday and the holiday isn't in the future. We sort of overlapped the company going into administration. The claim form hasn't got that option.
Any advice would be appreciated

you were a no-show on your flight as you chose not to travel before the company went into liquidation.
All very well the hotel advising not to travel but they are not the ones that have lost the cost of a holiday. Had you got the flight on Sunday, ATOL would have kicked in to sort hotel costs and flights back.0 -
But then we would have been stranded?!0

The hotels have been advised they will get paid and flights are being arranged to fly holidaymakers back at the end of their holiday. https://thomascook.caa.co.uk/trade-information/suppliers/
It wasn't for the hotel to advise you not to fly - I'm not sure why you would have imagined they were the people to take advice from...
Basically, you chose not to fly (based on your baffling decision to consult the hotel on your options and then make a decision based on their bad advice). As a result, you have no recourse - the flight on Sunday was available for you as booked, the hotel was available as booked, your return flight would simply have been on a plane with a different paint job. But it was your decision not to take the flight.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Sadly you took wrong advice from the wrong person.
All you can do now is to put a claim in with atol and hope for the best.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Hotel guests are being told to leave their rooms in turkey as we speak0

And ATOL are confirming that they would either pay for the hotel or tell you to pay and claim back from ATOL.
You made the wrong choice in not turning upEx forum ambassador

I wouldn't have the money to pay twice and claim it back0
