With the collapse of Thomas Cook, and the chaos of everyone desperately wanting/needing flights. Will the flight companies put on new flights to cater for the demand?
I was booked on a flight to New York next Thursday, now its been cancelled and most flights are now premium price with multiple layovers. Has anyone had an experience like this?
Regards

BA/KLM/SAS/LUFTHANSA/AIR FRANCE/VIRGIN etc etc cant just put extra flights on,they only have a certain number of very expensive slots.
So expect other airlines who fly from same uk airport to NY seat prices to increase....supply and demand0 -

Norwegian flies direct from London and isn't that expensive. £375 return.
I'm sure if you are flexible you can find cheaper.
What kind of tale did you want to read?0 -
I didn't know what 'tale' to expect, hence the question. I have know experience in this field and do not work in the sector. Maybe one of the thousands of people on here do/does.
Isn't that what forums are for?0 -
It may be that some airlines offer special deals to displaced Thomas Cook customers. It may be a few days before these start to appear.
Otherwise it is a question of getting the best deal you can. Often a connecting flight can offer a better deal. A friend found MAN=LHR=JFK cheaper than LHR=JFK, so keep looking.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Still have no idea what it is that you want to discuss.
No one here, other than yourself, even knows what you paid for your original booking. I suspect this thread will die without a trace unless you add some structure to it.
You'd have just as much success asking "How long is a piece of string in the autumn?"0 -
No additional capacity will be added in the short term .
In the long term the administrators will sell on TC slots at airports as an asset , and the planes , as an asset , or both as a complete airline. Then capacity will increaseEx forum ambassador

There are some posters being very unfair to those affected by this collapse. It is a legitimate question to ask if others will pick the lost flights, the answer in the short term is 'no' but there is no need to be rude. As a rule, I know how long my piece of string is! Good luck to Jb_820

from what I can see yes, but they'll bleed you dry.
Tui have just put on a flight in the same time slot as our cancelled Thomas Cook flights, the kicker being their flights are now more expensive than our entire original holiday was. So we wont be going.0 -

Wait and monitor. If no one books at stupid prices they could well fall.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Unfortunately a lot of people, myself included, bought replacement flights on Friday / Saturday when the writing was on the wall.
There’s no capacity to be added immediately, so it’ll either be a flight with a few connections or an incredibly expensive one I’m afraid
The replacement flight I booked on Friday night for £1,100 is now £4,500.0
