easyJet overbooked flight request for volunteers

I was waiting for my flight from Copenhagen to Bristol this afternoon when it was announced that they were looking for 'volunteers' who would be willing to give up their seat in return for €500 plus overnight hotel accommodation and a ticket on the next flight.
I was sorely tempted - no particular reason to get home in the next 24 hours, other than a skittles match (apparently skittles is important when you're the last person available to play).
Several of us were checking our phones - the next flight back would be Wednesday... so two nights away and a whole load of other complications for that day.
I have no idea whether they got their volunteers, or whether there were any 'no shows' but wonder if anyone has actually been brave enough to 'go for it' and what their experience was? (just so I know for next time)!

Did it a couple of times about 20 yrs ago with BA.....worked for a logistics company that did loads of overseas courier flights.
Was offered £200/accommodation/load of executive club points to give up seat on last flight from Heathrow to Newcastle and go on first flight in morning. Also got 500 euros for giving up business class seat from Budapest to Heathrow, would have done loads more but it was only an option coming back and having the next day off/back early/weekend0 -
Took an offer from EJ at Southend to catch a later departure, 5 or so hours, made little difference to me and an easy £200Save 12k in 2020 #19 £12,429.06/£14,0000
