Passport validity post brexit

This has just popped up on one of the Cyprus forums that I visit ....

Basically, although my passport doesn't run out till Feb, in the event of a 'no-deal' it won't be valid to travel to the EU.

I think this has been discussed for a little while, and if I remember correctly of you were to renew earlier to get the extra time on that was being denied too.... not ideal and I’m sure people will be caught out along the way0
